Perth has a new a low cost venue for dancers to practise and improve their skills. It is held every Sunday at the Tango Salon, hosted by Kiong and Kyoko with the support from Juan and the Tango Club. The practica is also a forum for the local teachers and experienced dancers to share their knowledge and skills in an informal and friendly environment.

A presenter is invited each week to make a one-hour special presentation at the practica on aspects of tango technique and/or introduce some new cool moves for the dancers to explore.

The presenters to date included Juan and Amanda, Geoff and Anne, Antonio and Leanne, and Kiong and Kyoko. The topics covered so far included rebotes, volcadas, connection, milonga and vals moves. The programs for the coming weeks are as follows:

"Leading "La Cruzada"
This most fundamental and misunderstood figure (Crossed Basic). Juan will present several variations & styles from Salon to Nuevo, as well as debunking many of the myths surrounding this step (eg. “it is not led“, “lifting the cross” etc)

In addition to traditional tango music, DJ Kiong will occasionally be playing brackets of new and alternative tango music at the practica to encourage dancers to experiment and broaden their tango expressions.

The practica opens for practice from 7 pm at the new hall at 296 Churchill Avenue Subiaco. The special presentation starts at 8 pm, to be followed by more practice and social until 11 pm. The entry cost is $7 per person for the evening. It is a BYO event.
