Workshop Details
Workshop 1: Tango Games
A variety of playful exercises will help to
develop balance, coordination, connection and creativity.
Open to all levels, this workshop is a fun
introduction to a full day of tango.
Workshop 2: Milonga
The challenge of dancing milonga is broken down
into easy to understand components by Homer
and Cristina. From the embrace to the music, all
elements of milonga patterns and rhythms will be
explored.
Workshop 3: Vals
The Vals is an elegant and uplifting dance
offering a unique methodology for exploring music and
partnership on the floor. This workshop assists
in understanding the phrasing, syncopation and
connections of vals.
Workshop 4: Tango phrasing using Di Sarli
An underestimated composer, Di Sarli offers
specific challenges to tango dancers with the elegance
and complexities of his rhythms and melodies.
Unpacking the structures and systems of Di Sarli, this
workshop provides a gateway into a broader
musicality for tango.
Workshop 5: Open to Close Embrace Transitions
Ever felt stuck in your dance and limited in
what you can achieve on the floor? This workshop will
broaden your dancing literacies by exploring the
possibilities in close and open embrace transitions.
Workshop 6: Developing and Releasing Torsion
A key element in tango is dissociation – the
ability to build and release the energy within the body.
This workshop aims to generate and control that
energy within and through torsion for both
followers and leaders.
Workshop 7: Volcadas – The Tokyo Drift
Extreme volcadas not for the faint hearted, this
workshop looks at innovative and unexpected
consequences for the forward off-axis
relationship. A new way of exploring the volcada will be
presented.
Workshop 8: The D’Arienzo Reach
The master of rhythm D’Arienzo presents dancers
with unique challenges for unpacking and
processing the rhythms and beats of his
compositions. This workshop examines the walk within
D’Arienzo musical structures to explore and
expand our understanding of walking and connection.
